I did NOT expect these results.
It took a while to choose a suitable image to share for this contest. I specifically wanted an image which was very plain and untelling, to give the editor the chance to get creative with it. Thank you so much all of you for the kind messages you sent along with your submissions! You are right. a correctly lit, correctly exposed and well focused image is a joy to edit.

I didn’t crop it, sharpen it, or do anything to it beforehand. And look at the results. Look how every photographer has a different vision. Unbelievable.
Now for the winner. This one was a hard one. I sent these images without sharing the names of who edited them, to a panel of three photographers and ask them to pick their favourite and tell me what is best about it. After much deliberation, they settled on three favourites:
